Save the PvE Mesmer!
Mesmers have become the least used (and arguably the least useful) primary class in the game. Mesmer primaries are becoming few and far between, a subject I've expounded upon at length here:
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10139177
With that said, we need some buffs that will give people a reason to play Mesmer primaries again. The first thing that springs to mind is a change to Fast Casting, the Mesmer primary attribute. Making this attribute more useful will be a boon to all existing mesmers and provide incentive for people to make new mesmer characters.
Right now Fast Casting is quite a weak attribute. It does not convey nearly the advantage in PvE that I think the designers intended, since enemy AIs can interrupt skills no matter how short the cast time.
My first thought regarding this is to make Fast Casting not only reduce casting time, but reduce -recharge- time. Mesmers have a number of e-management skills that would allow for this to work to their advantage, and would be a significant boost to the class's overall usefulness.
Any other thoughts on how the primary Mesmer can be made a useful class again? My mesmer is my favorite character... but I have to solo with him, because very few people want a mesmer on their team when they can have a third ele. And with the way the class is right now, I can hardly blame them.

Yeah, i really dont understand. I use mesmer in pve and pvp but I really dont understand the reason this profession is continually having skills degraded by the developers. They are really becoming useless. They are pretty much only good for 1 thing in pvp now, e-denial/shutdown, and alot of the stuff I did with my mesmer in pve has been hurt by the recent update, they are fairly useless pve characters. Why do they keep nerfing their skills, meanwhile professions that are already pushing the envelope of being overpowered like assassins, ritualists, eles, are either being boosted or going untouched. I would just like to know the reason behind the recent skill changes to the mesmer skills. The ones they did boost were worthless skills anyway.

They nerf mesmer skills because they're overpowered in pvp. Making pve like pvp would solve this as I state in pvp style AI update thread

I really enjoy playing mesmers in PvP and would love to see them become strong in the PvE aspect of GW's. The problem is if mesmer skills get buffed so they are more effective in PvE they will also be more effective in PvP where mesmers are already a strong enough character. Thus creating problems in the PvP community. Mesmers don't necessarily need a skill buff as much as they need better PvE skills.

they are soon to nerf necros too due to PvP. I think they should make skills work one way in PvE and another in PvP. Make it like its two seperate games.
I am sure it would be hard to do, but anet is killing pve, and thats my favorite part of the game.

I HAVE A SOLUTION FOR THIS PROBLEM PEOPLE ARE IN GENERAL UNDERESTIMATING ALL THE BEST PROFESSIONS SUCH AS MES AND ASSASSIN
make builds to defeat those mesmers in pvp the mesmer does suck now thx to Anet.
the solution like above^^^^^ is to make pvp and pve completely different from each other
think about how much well balanced everything can be
and the paragon whats up with that. its the strongest range profession besides ele ive seen
the probllem is people go try it out maybe 1 or 2 days with all the noob skills and theyre like ---- that
the skills for all the unloved professions are better than a warriors i can assure you.
mesmer = ultimater hexer
assassin = quick spiker
paragon = party supporter (can cause major damage through other players attacks)

I agree that mesmers are strong in PVP they were not the strongest by far, I just dont think that they were overpowered before this most recent nerf, thats why I dont understand the recent changes to the skills. Especially distortion and spirit of failure, why nerf those more, distortion is useless now. Mesmers are key members to a team and can completely change the tide of a battle depending on situation and skills they use and I think that was the original intent for the profession. They sort of cause exploitation and manipulation, making the enemie team weaker thereby making their own team stronger, when the situation is perfect they are very powerful and that is the whole reason I play a mesmer, for that situation that doesnt happen very often. However when the situation is not what you inteded or planned for you arent really very powerful at all and have to get by and do the best with what you have and I think that is what they should look at before changing their skills. When the situation is perfect they will be very powerful, that is the nature of the profession the way I see it. They are only very powerful in certain situations and thats what they were designed to be, taking away from that is like taking the AOE damage away from eles. Pretty soon Im just going to start playing a lesser form a necro, because if they keep nerfing the mesmer there is going to be no fun use for them. Some nerfs like spiritual pain were understandable because of the aoe spiking capability, although now the skill is completely useless and needs an energy reduction to be useful against spiritspammers in its current form, which was what I think the skill was originally intended to be used for by the developers, but I dont think the skills of this most recent nerf were overpowered at all.

I've got a mesmer from NF and now as I'm playing trought NF with my ele I wish I had my mesmer instead. Mesmer's aren't bad at all, in fact against most monsters in PVE they own, simply becuase mobs don't know what they're hexed with. A human player will stop attacking if they've been empathied spirit shackled but no, a mod will sit there until it's dead or at zero energy. They're still good, they just require more that button mashing.

From Playing my mesmer through most of all 3 campaigns, i know it isnt easy. hexes expire or get removed before they really do enough. Taking down bosses was something of my specialty, but everything isnt a boss. I agree, there is a tiny niche for mesmers in pve, but right now you're better off playing fc nuker. they need to buff some hexes, add some aoe hexes, put more skills in the fc line and change some enemies. many enemies have extinesive amounts of energy and may have hex removal/ resistance or backup with it. Rather than dealing with the meser, we should make changes to the enemies, like lowering their energy pools or giving them some fun to interrupt skills.

I dont think that the only reason is that people underestimate mesmers in PvE, I just think for most of the time people use the same cookie-cutter build's that had gotten them as far as they have (unfortunately allot of which don't contain mesmers)

I think the main reason why mesmers appear to be a bit unloved in PvE is because nothing they do is obvious, and a good deal of their skills are dependent on how mobs act and react in the game world. How many players want to invest time and effort in studying the finer points of every skill in the game, as well as memorise every mob's strengths and weaknesses, just so they can play a mesmer at top efficiency, when it's so much easier to go for a different profession that's a more obvious damage source?
I fail to see anything wrong with the mesmer. It's how players approach the game that makes the mesmer look underpowered and unloved.

All they need to do is give monsters REAL skill bars instead of boosting their HP and damage into ridiculous ranges. I'm sure mesmers would see more PvE action if you had real spellcasters to fight, along with monsters with resurrection skills.

The people who made this skill thought of a special effect for every core profession. Except the Mesmer.
Where is the love?
